Doctor Biography:

Dr. Sumona Afroz is an experienced Glaucoma Specialist and Phaco Surgeon with expertise in the diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management of glaucoma and other common eye diseases. She is currently serving as a Consultant at OSB Eye Hospital, Mirpur, Dhaka. She is committed to providing comprehensive eye care through modern diagnostic techniques, evidence-based glaucoma management, and advanced cataract surgery.

Dr. Afroz completed her MBBS from Rajshahi Medical College (RMC) and subsequently earned her Master of Surgery (MS) in Ophthalmology from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU). Her academic training has equipped her with extensive knowledge and clinical expertise in the field of ophthalmology.

Throughout her professional career, Dr. Afroz has been actively involved in the diagnosis and management of various ophthalmic conditions. As a Glaucoma Specialist, she focuses on the early detection, medical management, laser treatment, and surgical care of glaucoma to help prevent irreversible vision loss. She is also experienced in performing modern Phaco (Cataract) Surgery with a strong emphasis on patient safety and visual rehabilitation.

Her area of special interest includes General Ophthalmology, with particular expertise in Glaucoma and Phaco (Cataract) Surgery. She is dedicated to providing personalized, evidence-based treatment while utilizing the latest advancements in ophthalmology to achieve the best possible visual outcomes for her patients.

Currently, Dr. Sumona Afroz is available for consultation at Retina Glaucoma Center & Superspecialty Eye Hospital (RGC Eye Hospital). Her chamber schedule is Saturday (4:00 PM – 7:00 PM), Monday (4:00 PM – 7:00 PM), and Wednesday (4:00 PM – 7:00 PM). She is not available on Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.
